What is a crystal?

To start with, what is a mineral might be a better question. A mineral is “naturally occurring homogeneous solid with a definite chemical composition and a highly ordered atomic arrangement” (Encyclopaedia Britannica). They are usually formed from inorganic processes and make up the crystals, rocks and gemstones of the world.  The rocks, which form the earth, moon and planets are made up of minerals and a mineral is defined as “naturally occurring homogeneous solid with a definite chemical composition and a highly ordered atomic arrangement” When minerals develop without restriction they are bound by crystal faces which are disposed in a regular way and a crystal is bounded by naturally formed plane faces and its regular outward shape is an expression of its regular atomic organisation.

Crystals have a natural allure to everyone they influence the light and subtle magnetic fields on the human energy structure and on the cellular level of the physical body even if you are not aware of this your sub-conscious and super-conscious are. They have both piezoelectric and pyroelectric properties. The piezoelectricity is where electricity is produced by pressure and pyroelectricity is produced by temperature. Many early cultures (e.g. Mayan, Aztec, Native American Indians, African and Celtic) used to strike quartz crystals with a wooden mallet, resulting in a flash of light

Crystals respond to the liquid crystals in your body and transfer to your bloodstream, organs and systems of the body in the sense of energy fields essential for your health and the re-energising of the body.

Crystals have been used and revered since the dawn of mankind. The Judaeo – Christian Bible refers to them over 200 times. Crystals and artefacts made from crystals have been found in the ruins of Babylon, the Pyramids of Ancient Egypt, tombs of Ancient Chinese Emperors and Toltec, Mayan, Aztec and Inca sites in South America. They are the life forms of Mother Nature in the process of evolution just like us and of the cosmos and many of the connections come from traditional astrology, both Western and Eastern. Traditional Chinese medicine and Indian Ayurveda, both over 5,000 years old, still use in modern medical prescriptions crystals that appear in formulas in ancient texts.

There are many tales of crystals first being used in Atlantis they became important to the people of that civilization who believed in their capability to store and amplify any power source fed into them – physical, mental, emotional or spiritual. Many ancient civilisations used crystals as tools, jewellery, talisman and amulets, they believed it brought them good luck, health and protection to the wearers.

The high priest of Judaism wore a breastplate set with precious stones, which was more than a badge of office it conveyed his power to all.

Today world wide thousands swear by the use of crystals for many reasons i.e. mental, emotional and physical problems there are claims that they aid in harmonious relationships, spiritual awakening and allergies and that each crystal has its own healing power.

Crystals and the aura

The aura is an energy field – it is our life force, which takes two forms – the cosmic vibratory energy that is omnipresent in the universe, structuring and sustaining all things and the specific aura that sustains each human body. You could think of it as an atmosphere around the human body – similar to the plant Earth that has an atmosphere. It is shaped like an egg made of fibrous light surrounding the whole body it has been stated that it is like a heat haze radiating all around the person shimmering with light and energy.

History tells us that humans are surrounded by an aura dates back to when the Christian saints are shown with a halo around the head, ancient Egyptians did the same for their gods or important human beings as did the Hindus, Buddhists, Greeks and Romans. The aura is generally thought of as having seven layers with the outer auric layers being concerned with the soul and spirit whereas the inner auric layers relate to the mind, emotions and health.
