What is Reiki

Reiki is a technique for relaxation and well being that promotes balance and health. It was created and developed by Dr. Mikao Usui in Japan around 1870. The word itself is made of two Japanese words or kanji:

“Rei” being Universal life being similar to the rays of the sun giving life to living things. It is a spiritual consciousness

“Ki” is termed as energy, which flows through all living things. “Ki” is also known as Light, Prana, Chi, Cosmic Energy or Universal Radiant Energy.

Reiki is an easy and natural way to actively help yourself to grow to achieve your full potential and the healing effects of the energy lead to a more peaceful life.

Reiki can be used safely at any time, anywhere and for all things. It is the easiest natural healing method. Once a person has been made aware of their own ability or awareness (by a Reiki Master) that energy will flow from their hands naturally.

The therapist who has this positive energy will be able to draw away from the client all the negative energy. Reiki can balance and harmonize it is given from the heart which can bring a person back to peace, and harmony.

We never as therapists diagnose a body as Reiki practitioners we recognise that a body can be in a state of unbalance or balance and by giving Reiki which works on many levels the physical, mental, emotional or spiritual we are working with the energy which is around and in us called the energy field which is known as the Aura.

Reiki practitioners use specific hand positions that correspond to the physical body, its organs, and the seven charkas that draw energy from the universal life force then let it flow through their hands and into the person receiving the treatment.
